Clown Day

It was Friday past, at Gracie's school. The PTA really goes all out for these events, it's wonderful - they had decorated the whole gym like the Big Top, and had games and activities for the kids, face painting, crafts, plus DJ and dancing. Rob came in and dressed up and did funny clown schtick, and everyone loved him (and it was fun to watch him, and of course Gracie loved having him there). Annette, who graciously donated her time and talents and overall fun-ness, went from class to class with me and our ukeleles, and we showed the kids how to throw things out the window...in song. We would take breaks from that by dancing in the big room whenever a good song came on, and being generally dance-y and party-y and fun, "dancing" with the kids in wheelchairs and so on.

Good day. Next month is Pirate Day, and Gracie is already/still talking about how her daddy was the best clown and will be the best pirate (the one-and-only Chris L-W is unable to be there in person but will be lending Rob his costume, so the kiddies shall have their Jack Sparrow. I will be doing the all-classroom ukelele tour again, this time with a first - I have written my own song for the occasion (reminding myself why I prefer to write parodies, I stink at originals). In hopes of educating as well as entertaining, my song is called "A Privateer is Not a Pirate". I still have to work on it a bit, so we'll see how it turns out.
