The tooth of the matter
May. 18th, 2011 05:11 pm I just realised what the date is. Huh. How 'bout that.
Anyway, today is a milestone day in the House of G - she lost her first tooth! One of the bottom front ones. It came out in school today, about 20 minutes before I got there to play ukelele for them. Convenient, this, because not only did I get to give congratulatory hugs right at the off, plus I got to take the tooth home and put it in an empty pill bottle so it wouldn't get lost before the tooth fairy could come. So proud of my big girl, and a little freaked at how big she is getting!
Today I went into school and played and sang for about 23 classrooms. In the past they had only had me play for the little ones, but today I did the whole school. Happy and sad times three...the other wings of the school I hadn't been to yet had the kids who were REALLY physically disabled. So sad to see them like that, but happy that I could make them smile - and some of them really seemed to enjoy me a lot. I played the privateer song, and "I Don't Want To Live On The Moon", which made a lot of the adults get misty. Such a great school - I'll miss them when Gracie graduates. I'll probably keep volunteering even after she is no longer there, though. When I played for her old preschool class, everyone remembered her - in fact, most of the classrooms I visited today, at least one person knew who I was because they knew Gracie. My little rock star.
