quick tabs
Sep. 6th, 2011 08:21 pmReally no time for anything else, but some things need to be shared.
Idris dress in progress, and making me VERY happy. Will feel a bit disloyal to wear (also I hate me with brown hair), but the more ribbon I sew on, the more excited I get. Gracie is also excited to have me wear the outfit ("Mama, wanna get grey dress and black hair and go Doctor with Gracie?"). NYCC people, let me know your plans...at the moment, I plan on Friday and Saturday.
I am babysitting my nephew Tristan as we speak, for the first time. He is adorable and a very easy baby, and get this - Gracie was legit HELPFUL. She was jolly, played with him, and fetched me things every time I asked, so I didn't have to get up with him. She was a bit excited whenever he fussed, but only because she wanted to help. Very proud. The three of us watched Labyrinth, and I think they both genuinely liked it.
School tomorrow! Hooray! And not just because I want a break, Gracie is impatient and excited to go back. She has her same team of teachers as last year, which is wonderful. Not sure how much longer she'll be at this school, but I want her to get as much out of it as possible. I have to sort out the rest of the forms, gah.
Speaking of that, so much to do now that I'm home from camp. The list of Things seems eternal, but I am slowly getting them done, one at a time. I hate this grown-up shit, when I'm the only one here to do it.
My houseguests are gone. Dru went home yesterday and Ben left today, and I miss them both, but I think Gracie is pleased to have Mama and our house back to herself. Ben did a wonderful job painting the outside of the house and tidying the backyard for me, and I have done a bunch of reorganising and will do a bunch more cleaning, and tomorrow I will call the realtor and get her here to officially list the house. I have not yet told Gracie we are moving...I will deal with that when I have to.
New ukelele! She is gorgeous and magenta, and has named herself Flo. She's also a concert, slightly bigger than a soprano, and is taking a bit of getting used to.
I am slowly clearing the rubbish out of my diet, and once the rain stops, intend to get back to walking every day. With an AllSaints outlet opening up close by, I need to be at my fighting weight! :P
Brief visit to fair was fun. You get to a point where even the sweat feels nostalgic and nice. And a gratifying thing was how many people (many of whom I don't know personally) came up to say how much they missed my singing (both Wyrd and wenches), and that I should have been allowed to play something at pub sing. Very sweet...and ukelele jam with
ladyjoust was one of the highlights of the day.
Birthday plans - Way Station on the 28th. A really lovely thing is that the owner said that me and mine could have the 8-9 timeslot to play music if we want. Can't think of a better time to introduce Flo to the public.
I'm legit now - my nerdlepoint is on display at the Suffern Free Library. It will be there all month, in the display case downstairs by the childrens' room. I'm officially a Local Artist!
