Yesterday was a good day. All through...though I am now sore.

Gracie and I both slept okay, so I put her on the bus and then called Jeanne right away. Went out, mounted up, rode Shadow into a friggin sweat. I tacked up first, and while waiting for Jeanne in the the ring, I indulged some Shakespeare-dorkiness and delivered the St Crispin's Day speech to an imaginary army, while Shadow pranced around slightly confused (why is Rider talking so loud? Am I supposed to do something?). There was even real gunfire in the air, thanks to it being hunting season and Jeanne's neighbours indulging themselves. Jeanne dressed her horse up in neon orange so we wouldn't be at risk.

Jeanne rode Rain instead of Lea because Rain needed the exercise. Rain is a Cadillac of a horse but doesn't get to trail often, so she was hesitant and confused, and Shadow is used to being out with Lea the super-confident. Thus, Shadow was a little freaky, and thus my arms and legs are super sore today. Still, horse-sore is always good sore. Today I don't have any plans which don't involve sitting on a heating pad (doesn't help that Gracie wanted to go walking yesterday, which she hasn't been into lately and I was happy to take her, but still, extra sore).

Incidentally, in the land of Humourous Gracie Things (I have twittered about some of these), we have had these lately --
-- The other night when i tucked her in, I said "Mama loves you Gracie. Can you say I Love You Mama?" She pondered and replied, "Kickass."
-- On the playground yesterday, she kept bringing me up to the top of the slide with her (it is one of those curvy ones), lying on her stomach at the top of the slide, and looking at me expectantly, saying something I eventually figured out was supposed to be "football? what's a football?"
I was supposed to say "you'll shoot your eye out, kid", and then she would slide down backwards. She also quite plainly stated "not a finger!" some time that evening.
-- I have introduced her to How The Grinch Stole Christmas (the REAL one, not Jim Carrey ruining my childhood). She LOVES it and has yet to let me turn it off, and has been referring to it as "Christmas doggy", and hugs me a LOT while we watch it. I have restrained myself from saying to her "let's hear you call Boris Karloff a cocksucker", but boy howdy have I wanted to. I cry every time I watch the Grinch anyway, but watching my favourite Christmas special with her and having her enjoy it...she is just glorious. And more beautiful every day, even when she is making me nutty...and the past 2 days (not to jinx them), she has been really great, mellower, no tantrums. And Jane will be here day after tomorrow, and we will take her riding.

Also, have I mentioned lately that I love my friends? I can't believe I was one of those idiots in college who went around saying "most of my friends are guys", just because I had issues that kept me from being close with females (who had the same issues). Girl friends are the anti-yuck.

*edit -- okay, it is official, I did something dreadful to my back. I think it was when I was getting on Shadow without the mounting block and she decided to start walking before I was even halfway up. I felt it wrench then, and then the hard ride didn't help. I took preemptive super-advil when I got home, but tonight will be a soma night once Gracie is asleep and i don't have to keep up with her. Ow. Worth it, but ow.
