Bugger was curled up in her spot by the heating vent. Gracie got down on the floor next to her. I watched carefully, as these two occasionally have moments of sibling competition.
I needn't have worried.
Gracie reached out and ever so gently placed her hand on the floor right next to Bugger's cheek.
Bugger considered for a moment, and then, with that universally recognised kitty gesture of affection and trust, twisted onto her back and nuzzled Gracie's hand with her face.
I almost exploded from the sweetness. So did Gracie, with giggles, but this didn't stop them from repeating this process over and over again for the next ten minutes or so. I wanted to take a picture but was afraid to move and disturb.

This weather bites my ass, as it does everyone, but things worked out today...I was up all night from the noise of the snowplows and despaired of having to live through a snow day, but the gods were on my side. A 2-hour delay and kiddo was on the bus (and had a good day at school, apparently), and five minutes after that, I had a soma in my belly and was on my way back to bed for 2 and a half hours. While it kicked in, I shovelled the driveway and sidewalk, an easy job with the rain, and this way I don't have to worry about it freezing (I hope). I didn't get anything done today, but probably wouldn't have anyway. Tomorrow will be Errands Day, including getting kiddo a new raincoat.

The drag is, I think I am getting the cold Gracie has had for a week and is just getting rid of. It is deeply unfair that mothers are not immune to their own kids' germs...then again, she got them from somewhere else. I want to eat everything in the world and she keeps mooching my airborne.

Now it is after bath and we are cuddled up on the couch watching Chicken Run for the third time this afternoon. Purrrrrr.
