sneaky sneaky girl

deadlightsgirl Not that any of this comes as a surprise, of course, but read on.
Lately Gracie has been doing the kid thing of asking for something to eat and then not eating it, and then I wind up eating it.
She asked for Amy's pizza snacks, I made them, she didn't eat them, I ate most of them, but then I decided she needed to eat just ONE, so I told her no TV of any kind til she eats one. This went on for a good coupla hours, with her trying to cute her way out of it, hug her way out of it, the works -- then the phone rang. She waited til I went to answer it, then she put the pizza rolls in the garbage, the dish in the sink, and then pranced over to me singing "all done, pizza snacks!"
If I wasn't feeling so very crappy today, I would have been hard put not to laugh.
I told her it wasn't cool to waste food, doubly not cool to try sneaky on Mama, that it wasn't going to work anyway because I am way sneakier than her, and that she wasn't allowed to watch TV for another half hour anyway because she had been naughty. This of course prompted her pre-tantrum thing she does where she grabs whatever part of my clothes, hair, or skin she can reach, and pull with the strength of the Nemean Lion. The only way to detach is to do a sort of bind with your forearm, and you send her to her room, but you have to be careful she doesn't start throwing things. I figured she had gotten the point, and after she had chilled in her room for a few, I let her put on Elmo so I could have a bit of a break.
Ugh, this weather is totally doing me in. The one round of shovelling I did this morning seems to have accomplished nothing, and I am seriously considering just leaving it all til tomorrow, but I am afraid it will freeze. Maybe after she goes to sleep I'll do another pass, and take a soma first so maybe I'll care less.
Oh - it's just season one, but I am remembering why I wasn't really into Dr Who back in the 80s. In many ways, I am just not worthy of the name of "geek". It's cute, I'll keep watching because it's here, but so far...meh.
Oh, PS, I solved my rage-icon problems by browsing the FB bumper sticker collection. I'm quite pleased with this one.
Tonight there will be a hot-cocoa-with-Baileys with my name on it.
