Who knows about this (apart from my sister)? And who will bake one for me?
My chocolate needs are covered for the next little while due to the good graces of
sweet_luluberry (brownies from my champion, doo daa, doo daa). They are insane and I worry that I am now at risk of losing my soul...either that, or of
4evernight staging a commando raid on my house to steal them. They're that happy. They also came wrapped in bubble-wrap, which Gracie had a very good time tapdancing on. I have nifty friends.
Yesterday we spent hours and hours at the playground on our first organised playdate, with the little girl Gracie made friends with the other day. Her mom, bless her, unexpectedly showed up with a huge bag of clothes and shoes for Gracie that her little girl had just outgrown. So now Gracie has a whole new spring wardrobe, cute stuff, in decent condition. Including a Juicy Couture hoodie. I don't have a Juicy hoodie. Just saying.
Yesterday's playground experience went well, all things considered. Gracie had fun playing with Emily and other children there, I learned a bit more Spanish, had someone to chat with, and the only down side to this whole thing is that Gracie's new thing is escape and run. Three times she escaped from the gated playground and took off down the block, and I had to retrieve her from this store that sells knickknacks in which she is no longer content to just stare in the window. That was a drag, but Emily's mom was there so I could just abandon my bag and run. I have also discontinued walks with the stroller, because she is too apt to jump out and run to something she finds interesting, even if it is across the street - scarey. I have taken to carrying things like my wallet and phone in a backpack, so it is on me in case I have to leave the stroller, but for the next while at least, I am going to simply drive her to the playground. I'll take a walk for myself during the day (on the off chance I get to actually have a day and don't have to spend her whole school day sleeping because she's had me up all night). She got good and tired from yesterday and went right to bed and still got up to come into my bed at 3 (she is coming down with a cold and is sniffling, I think that was why), and while she did go back to sleep, it was well over an hour before I got back to sleep, and amusingly, she had migrated herself around the bed so that when I woke, she was down at the foot of the bed, upside down, wrapped, koala-like around one my legs. She is also learning to speak with an English accent thanks to Kipper the dog - whenever she plays Kipper, she does his voice and his accent. It is very funny.
Today mom and I went for her IEP meeting about her school. It was a good meeting and everyone was very nice and helpful. They said to not worry about the neurologist and that he was an idiot and suggested, just for shits and giggles, a developmental pediatrician. They gave me a name of someone in Morristown. They said I should bring in my registration forms to the local school so she will be registered in the district, but that's not necessarily where she'll go, and that the results of this meeting would be sent on and I would have more meetings about where she will do best next year. I'll bring in the forms tomorrow or Wednesday - the school is really close by. I also registered her for another session of Gymboree, which she will start next week, since she will get bored of the same playground every day, and this is a good thing for Daddy or Grammy to take her to while I stay home and breathe. Everyone agreed that she is progressing and that the program she has been in has been great for her, and she should have similar next year.
Monday Julie and I will take her to her first dentist appointment. Pray for us all. :)
