eggs and cookies and all kinds of sunshine

 The kind that comes from a beautiful day, but more importantly, the kind that comes from joyful company - specifically, Gracie (duh) and harpiegirl, who, when she is blessed with children of her own, is going to be SUCH a good mommy.  She is already the winner of the Pedini Awesome Auntie award bigtime, and proved it yet again when she brought Easter to us.  Showed up with not only ingredients and equipment to bake and decorate SCRATCH sugar cookies (I would've been lazy and bought premade dough), but also unfailing patience and cheer and generally good attitudes with which to deal every Gracie Mood she came upon.  Most of those moods were sunny and happy and involved engaging Gracie's assistance in the baking process (pictures are on facebook)(I am also proud to say that Gracie followed her directions really quite well), but also the occasional sugared-up child not getting her way and tantrum ensuing, and it was all taken in calm stride.  I handled the Toy end of things, and Gracie hunting for eggs was beyond adorable.  The day was beautiful and healing and loving and comfortable (btw, even though there was tantrum happening as harpiegirl took her leave, I am happy to report that it was quickly quelled and she was mostly mellow the rest of the evening, and slept well), things I especially appreciated because I had to shoot up that afternoon as well.

There is nothing in the world such as blessing as good girl friends.  Not to make light of the awesome males in my life, but the bond between women of any age is special and wonderful, and it wasn't a thing I learned to appreciate til later in life.  Hopefully I will be able to teach Gracie about it, and she will know that happiness from an early age.

Best Easter Ever. :) Here's to many more to come! Thank you for letting me get my Mommy Energy out on your daughter. She is such a delight and I'm just in awe of her - it's so inspiring seeing her personality develop and watching her learn and grow. What a beautiful little miracle she is.

And I agree about the bond between girlfriends. Nothin' like it in the world, my sister!
