Well, the bad news is that the paediatric neurologist we saw today wasn't able to give any answers. We'll go back to see him more because he thinks there are some things worth testing (we'll see about that), but he says he is not our guy.

The good news is, he was able to send us to whom he thinks could be our guy - a paediatric psychiatrist in Tarrytown named Klaus something. He sounded very grandfatherly and nice on the phone, cute German accent and all, and I will see him next month (soonest he had) by myself first, and the he will meet Gracie some time after that. Neuro guy swears that this guy is not only very good, but also not the type who will needlessly or overmedicate. Neuro guy says he doesn't think she'd be right for stimulant type drugs, and anything Klaus suggests will be second-opinioned by both my PCP and my own meds shrink. Lord knows I don't want to put her on anything which will change her personality, and I don't believe she is a lifer for anything, but if there is some light medication she can be given which will help her grow into her language skills, I will certainly be open to it.

Funny bit - I didn't find neuro guy all that personable until we got out of his office (and I'm sorry, but why would you have, in an office full of toys it is all right to play with, other toys it is NOT okay to play with? and why would you look at me like I was nuts when I suggested that this might piss off a child?), but then he improved...and when he suggested Dr Klaus, I giggled and said I knew someone who saw a Dr Ulla. He replied to that, "wasn't that the name of the girl in The Producers?" That earned him cool points. They gave Gracie a lollipop and offered me one too. I said no thank you.

In the non-Gracie news, I am recovering from the Death Plague, but it lingers. It truly sucks when you are trying to use your neti pot and the water can't get through you sinuses because they are that clogged. I got the first draft of the separation agreement from the lawyer and will call her tomorrow to make an appt to go in and talk about it. I read it this afternoon, and may I say that the combo of that and neuro visit (and Gracie was NOT happy about all the time they kept us waiting, long enough to watch all of Beauty and the Beast) was WAY too much grownup stuff to deal with in one day, and I would very much like a cookie now.
