Twittertainment round the world
Aug. 4th, 2010 11:24 amHave I mentioned this? You know how I'm part of this timeline-oriented Angel Twitter thing that was this other guy's idea back on ought-seven? Well, that guy's idea inspired me to have my own idea in the form of Xena. Same notion, starting with the first episode, going in order as if these events were happening, over however long it takes. We officially started last night with the teaser to ep 1, and act 1 tweets today. Helps a lot that the transcripts are all online. Unlike the BtVS/Angel team thing, my goal as a Twittertainer (yes, I made that up. At least I did to me, maybe someone else thought of it for them) is for anyone reading these to be able to follow the story without having seen the episodes. I am working with a friend on this (she is writing Xena, we also have a Callisto/Ares), so we are able to skype and organise our posts using HootSuite scheduling to help with smooth and coordinated storytelling. It's not a huge amount of work this way, and will be less once we get used to it. It's fun, and kind of an interesting challenge - and revisiting Xena's world and Gabrielle's brain is enjoyable for me. We laugh at our lameness, but followers are increasing and more and more people are utilizing the internet as its own form of entertainment as opposed to just being a venue on which to screen forms of entertainment. And so what if there's no money in it. I'm terrified of the future and worry that I'll grow old making lattes to support my child and my talents will go completely to waste - and thus I say screw it, lemme use 'em while and where I can. Follow us, it's fun!
